Nice work Peng. What are your thoughts on trading the 1st rounder in order to move Gaborik or Brown? I saw a write up on the fourth period that said CBJ was talking to Vegas about trading they're 1st rounder to move Clarkson. If that's so, one would think that maybe LA wouldn't have to move the 11th pick since Vegas would get a player that could still play. Though they wouldn't get the salary break of LTIR.

Thanks! I would do it if there's a guy who you have in mind to fill that cap space (let's say Drouin)... though I doubt LA goes through with such a bold move. I think if you're trying to win now, it's a reasonable move. Heck, see if Vegas would take both contracts.

Thanks! Haven't heard any rumblings, but thinking about Stevens' connections, maybe Berube, who ran Philly's PK for him.

actually this is an interesting point; lombardi was all about "win now" the past few years...do you get the sense that blake has taken a diff approach, closer to a "reload now" notion? moving the contracts makes sense, but not at a first round pick + cost.

I believe Lombardi saw last year as a reload year too. Before that, was all in. Yea, I get the sense that Blake is trying that delicate balance -- getting help for his stars, while repairing the system. That's closer to reloading, despite the public proclamations about believing the team is still a Cup team.

Just thinking myself that straddling both sides of the fence is very difficult.

Wouldn't a LTIR situation with Greene be better than buying him out? Or maybe its simply to create another contract spot while saving some money?

perhaps its timing; with LTIR, i think they have to wait until the season is about to start vs clearing room sooner. they can still clear more room with putting gabo on LTIR if they choose to do so.

I hope he takes on a job with the Kings to work with the players.
